How to Create an Application Trace Log File

An application trace log is a simple text file which records all activities performed by the application when it is started and running. In order to help resolve some technical issues, Business Management Systems may request that you create an application trace log and send the log file to us to help solve your problems.

If you are asked to do so, you can use the following steps to create a trace log file that you can e-mail to us.

The method to start an application varies by operating system. Use the appropriate instructions below depending on for your operating system:

Windows XP

  • Close Snap Schedule
  • Click on the “Start” menu in the Windows system tray
  • Select the “Run” menu
  • Enter or copy and paste the following (including the quotation marks on one single line):

For Snap Schedule 2009:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule 2009\SnapSchedule.exe" /tracefile=c:\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Snap Schedule 2010:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule 2010\SnapSchedule.exe" /tracefile=c:\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Snap Schedule 2011:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule 2011\SnapSchedule.exe" /tracefile=c:\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Snap Schedule 2013:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule 2013\SnapSchedule.exe" /tracefile=c:\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Snap Schedule Premium 2010:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule Premium 2010\SnapSchedulePremium.exe" /tracefile=c:\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Snap Schedule Premium 2011:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule Premium 2011\SnapSchedulePremium.exe" /tracefile=c:\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Snap Schedule Premium 2013:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule Premium 2013\SnapSchedulePremium.exe" /tracefile=c:\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Business Appointment Manager 2010:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Business Appointment Manager 2010\bam.exe" /tracefile=c:\BAMTrace.log /tracelevel=3

  • Run Snap Schedule as desired and close the application
  • E-mail the trace file (SSTrace.log or BAMTrace.log)  located in C:\ to us at support@bmscentral.com.

32 bit Windows Vista OR 32 bit Windows 7

  • Close Snap Schedule
  • Get to a MS-DOS prompt or Windows command line. You can do this by clicking on the “Start” menu, type cmd in the search box and press enter. The MS-DOS command window will appear.
  • Enter the following (including the quotation marks on one single line) after the MD-DOS command prompt:

For Snap Schedule 2009:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule 2009\SnapSchedule.exe" /tracefile=c:\users\public\documents\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Snap Schedule 2010:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule 2010\SnapSchedule.exe" /tracefile=c:\users\public\documents\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Snap Schedule 2011:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule 2011\SnapSchedule11.exe" /tracefile=c:\users\public\documents\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Snap Schedule 2013:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule 2013\SnapSchedule.exe" /tracefile=c:\users\public\documents\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Snap Schedule Premium 2010:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule Premium 2010\SnapSchedulePremium.exe" /tracefile=c:users\public\documents\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Snap Schedule Premium 2011:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule Premium 2011\SnapSchedulePremium.exe" /tracefile=c:\users\public\documents\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Snap Schedule Premium 2013:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Snap Schedule Premium 2013\SnapSchedulePremium.exe" /tracefile=c:\users\public\documents\SSTrace.log /tracelevel=3

For Business Appointment Manager 2010:

"C:\Program Files\Business Management Systems\Business Appointment Manager 2010\bam.exe /tracefile=c:\users\public\documents\BAMTrace.log /tracelevel=3

  • Run Snap Schedule as desired and close the application
  • E-mail the trace file (SSTrace.log or BAMTrace.log) located in folder C:\users\public\documents to us at support@bmscentral.com.

64 bit Windows Vista OR 64 bit Windows 7

  • Close Snap Schedule
