An application trace log is a simple text file which records all activities performed by the application when it is started and running. In order to help resolve some technical issues, Business Management Systems may request that you create an application trace log and send the log file to us to help solve your problems.  You can create an application trace log using the command line switches when starting the application in the command line prompt.

If you are asked to do so, you can use the following steps to create a trace log file that you can e-mail to us.

The method to start an application varies by operating system. Use the appropriate instructions below depending on for your operating system:

For 32 bit Windows OS: Vista, XP, or Windows 7, 8, 10

  • Close Snap Schedule or Business Appointment Manager program.
  • Open Command Prompt to Execute MS-DOS Commands in Windows.  For information on how to open the command prompt on various Windows OS, refer to https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-open-command-prompt-2618089 .
  • On the Command Prompt, enter or copy and paste the following (including the quotation marks on one single line):

For Snap Schedule 2010:

  • Run Snap Schedule (or Business Appointment Manager) as desired and close the application
  • E-mail the trace file (SSTrace.log or BAMTrace.log for Business Appointment Manager)  located in C:\ to us at support@bmscentral.com.
